Facebook continues its conquest of the world that is rapidly approaching another impressive milestone, 700 million users. It is the second most visited site in the world behind Google. Kudos to Facebook for this incredible achievement. I talked to some people and I have noticed that many people do not take the time to explain, or even enjoy tinkering with alternatives, like me. So I decided to write an article about Facebook tricks I’ve found. You might find these cool hidden Facebook tricks useful.
Using Facebook Homepage Filters:
Check out the options in the upper left corner of your website? It is filtered. If you split your friends into lists, you can see the names of friends lists too. Click one to see the activities of the people of the contact list only. For example, I have regrouped my Facebook friends to the family, classmates factory, SHS-G classmates, etc. If I want to know what my old school friends are on Facebook, I click the filter Classmates PCGS on my site and that the recent activities of my fellow PCGS pop up.
Customizing Facebook Info Privacy
When I started on Facebook, I decided to add to my list of friends that people I knew personally, I filled all the details of my info tab. Then I started receiving requests for friends from online or even strangers too. I realized I could not see contact information for these people when I was about to delete the info, I realized that you can customize privacy settings for each item in your details Here’s how:
Click the Details tab to your profile.
Move your mouse over the information.
Click Edit, click the upper right corner.
Click the lock next to each item and then click Customize.
Choose your friends and then just friends, or networks that you want to allow. You may also make exceptions.
Another way is to move the mouse to Settings (next to logout), then click on Privacy Settings. It allows you to control your privacy settings for your profile, Search, News and wall, and applications.
Hiding Online Status from Selected Friends on Facebook:
So you want to use Facebook chat, but do not want people to see your online status? Just open Facebook Chat and click on the contact list. Start by creating a new list called block list or something else that will be easy for you to understand.
When the list is created, add these friends to the list you want to view offline. When the list is complete, hold your mouse on the small green icon next to the list and click Go Offline. Bingo! Now you’ll appear offline to everyone in the block list.
